FootballersMinds have tailored a programme, full of activities and techniques targeting the Maintenance of wellbeing:
This is a great opportunity for Clubs to invest in their players mental health well-being. With our unique and flexible services, we meet the players and clubs needs. Our work with them will be educational and provide them with information that when put into practice will give them the confidence and resilience to excel as footballers.
-From the age of 9+, Boys and Girls can access content to explore their minds potential and excel in their career on as well as off the pitch. The resources we provide and deliver will aid the maintenance of their mental well-being.
–Staff will also benefit from our services through our dedicated coach briefing sessions and CPDs we provide. This will not only help them with their own mental health but also have a better understanding on how to deal with players struggling with their own on and off the field issues.
–Parents of players at your club will also benefit. Parents also have the option to join in on sessions or access any information anything they need to further understand.
How We Work:
–Players. From the age of 8, we work with boys and girls of all levels, all who benefit from our tailored services. At the youngest ages, this will predominantly be through our buddy up system; here players will be mentored and supported by our own footballer. They receive a hands on, accurate journey of their mind as a young footballer. Additionally, 1:1s with our lead psychotherapist are also included.
–Coaches from all levels. We deliver CPDs from a Footballing point of view or from a Psychological angle. Our Lead Sports Psychotherapist and our Footballers/Coaches are able to deliver these depending on what the Coaches want to develop.
–Parents. We strongly feel that parents are part of the neglected community within football. We understand parents can suffer too and as a result can offer our support. This will be delivered as group workshops or 1:1s, for anyone who wants extra support, with our Sports Psychotherapist.
–Referees from all levels. The entire makeup of a Referee’s work is Mind based; how well they are perceived to have performed, will be because of decisions they have or have not made. In addition to scrutiny and increased pressure from fans and players, it can become nearly impossible for Referee’s to be at 100%. We provide 1:1 sessions as well as workshops that take the Referee’s on a journey into their own minds: to better understand themselves.
How we work:
The Workshops support players at seasonal milestones. A Workshop is an interactive event where various age-appropriate topics, focusing on Mental Health, will be discussed. Benefits include learning to regulate emotions and develop a growth mindset.
Group Mental Health Wellbeing sessions are formed by groups of multiple footballers, in discussion with a Sports Psychotherapist. This will concentrate on specific shared emotional or psychological issues. Benefits include educating footballers to address fears, deal with drawbacks and develop mental toughness.
Group Mental Wellbeing Sessions
Our Buddy-up sessions will be held by young professional footballers. This is a mentoring-like experience for Elite athletes with someone who can offer them advice and share personal experiences. Benefits include the opportunity to look up to someone who has very recently gone through similar experiences and has overcome challenges.
Podcasts will mainly be hosted by young professional footballers. These will be frequent and will be developed into a series so that they can be watched in order. These discussions will be about various topics. A streamed or audio only version will be able to be accessed via our social media. Benefits include educating Elite athletes in an entertaining manner.
Our Blogs will be written by our Team of young professional footballers. These blogs will be topical or focusing on a particular subject. This will a diary style entry available via our dedicated channels. Benefits include education on how to process emotions and grounding ourselves.
The entire Team will be a part of the skits we design. These will be created frequently and will usually be topical or focusing on an area highlighted by our team. Benefits include educating young athletes on dealing with various real life scenarios.

Coach Briefing Sessions
Coach Briefing sessions are aimed at helping coaches develop an even deeper understanding of individual players and of themselves. Benefits include enhancing their own emotional and psychological Wellbeing.
My name is Daniela Osu, I am a Sports Psychotherapist and I have been practising for around 20 years, working with Elite athletes, GB Teams and Professional Football Clubs. I have a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the athletes minds. I treat any psychological and emotional problem, set goals and work on helping athletes achieve the best possible outcomes.
My interest in sport has always been there, but since my son was 8 yrs old and started his Football journey in Academies, I have started developing Educational Mental Health Wellbeing Workshops, Sessions and Groups for young athletes, parents, coaches and staff.
I also work at the Priory Hospital and have Continuing Professional Development, to deliver you the best possible results. I am governed by the strict Code of Conduct and Ethics of the following Associations:
My name is Fabio Sole and I am a Professional Footballer. I have recently played for Oxford United FC as well as Reading FC before that. I have found in my career that there is a lack of support for mental health within football, especially for young players.
I have grown a passion to help others who have been through mental health struggles and believe this will be the place to do so.
I want young footballers to feel comfortable speaking about their problems; I can empathise with a lot of these athletes’ struggles-having been through the same processes myself.
My name is Shai and I am the Social Media and Design Manager for FootballersMinds. I am an undergraduate studying Fashion Marketing and I have qualifications in Graphic Design, Art and Business studies. These qualifications help aid my marketing and design skills.
I danced competitively for 12 years, therefore I understand the pressures and emotions that are involved in competing in an elite environment, especially at a young age.
My name is Kj. I am 19 years old and a full time footballer. I was in the football academy system between 8-18 years of age. I have been and am in the same position as many of these kids; so I am able to empathise with them and help create a programme suited to them. I will ensure the programme is always delivering professional, tailored, mental health support.
Alongside this, I help the Team develop ideas to ensure we offer the best support a young footballer can find.
